    Brief Description of Duties

    The University of the District of Columbia seeks an Adjunct Professor to teach undergraduate courses in the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program. UDC is a public, urban, land-grant HBCU committed to accessible, high-quality education and preparing students to serve diverse communities in the District of Columbia.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Teach assigned BSW courses (e.g., practice, policy, HBSE, research, Practicum).
    2. Deliver instruction aligned within CSWE competencies and program learning outcomes.
    3. Support student learning through inclusive, culturally responsive teaching.
    4. Provide timely grading, feedback, and communication.
    5. Maintain course records and adhere to BSW program and university policies.
    6. Participate in required orientations and program meetings as needed.

    Minimum Job Requirement

    • Master of Social Work (MSW) from a CSWE-accredited program.
    • Minimum two years of post-MSW professional experience.
    • Demonstrated ability to teach and mentor diverse student populations.

    Condition of Employment: Temporary employment may be ended at anytime with or without cause.
    Collective Bargaining Unit: Dependent upon certain criteria, this position may be eligible for representation and require payment of union fees through direct payroll deduction.

    Background Investigation: Employment with the University of the District of Columbia is contingent upon a satisfactory background investigation. The determination of a "satisfactory background investigation" is made at the sole discretion of the University of the District of Columbia. The University may refuse to hire a finalist, rescind an offer of employment to a finalist or review and may terminate the employment of a current employee based on the results of a background investigation.
