We are looking for a Trainee and Master’s Thesis Worker to join the Hedging & Financial Trading Middle Office function at UPM Energy on a fixed term contract 1.10.2026-30.9.2027.

What you will do

• To begin with, you will be responsible for operative Back Office activities in HFT team, and contribute to development work related to our Energy Trading Risk Management (ETRM) system
• Later on, you will have an opportunity to work with a larger topic as part of thesis work

Who you are

• You are a university student in engineering, mathematics, physics, or economics
• You have solid understanding of Nordic and Finnish electricity markets through your previous work experience
• You understand spot price formation physical electricity markets and are familiar with electricity derivatives, and the basic concepts of ETRM systems
• You have solid data analysis and programming skills in Python
• You have a curious, forward-looking, and proactive mindset
• You possess strong communication and collaboration skills
• You have an analytical mindset, attention to detail and the ability to see the big picture and develop innovative solutions
