    PET-CT Technician

    We are looking for an experienced PET-CT Technician at our location UPMC Cancer Center Zabok.
    Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

    Position Overview
    The PET-CT Technologist at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center Croatia is responsible for performing PET-CT imaging procedures to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of various medical conditions under the direct supervision of the practice physicians and/or nuclear medicine physician. This role involves preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals, operating PET-CT scanners, and ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the imaging process. The technologist must have a strong understanding of both PET and CT imaging techniques and protocols.

    Responsibilities
    Clinical Operations Duties
    · Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients according to established protocols.
    · Operate PET-CT scanners to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.
    · Monitor patients during imaging procedures to ensure their safety and comfort.
    · Maintain accurate patient records and document all procedures performed.
    · Perform diagnostic CT, and simulation CT, and PET/CT in collaboration with the radiotherapy technologist.
    · Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and protocols to minimize radiation exposure.
    · Educate patients and their families about the PET-CT procedures and address any concerns.
    · Stay updated with advancements in PET-CT technology and techniques.
    · Maintain strict patient privacy and protect patients' confidential information.
    · Respond effectively to patient concerns and refer medical questions to appropriate personnel.
    · Use effective communication and interpersonal skills to provide clear explanations for treatment-related procedures.
    · Observe patients for expected and unexpected reactions to treatments and communicate this to appropriate staff members.
    · Maintain safe, orderly PET/CT and HOT LAB rooms.
    · Provide on-call coverage under the direction of the Chief Therapist as needed.
    · Have a good understanding of information systems and is fluent in all computer applications necessary to perform the job.
    · Use post-processing and visualization software for image review and analysis in radiology and nuclear medicine
    · Performs other duties as assigned
    Quality Program Duties
    · Prioritize patient safety.
    · Perform quality control checks on imaging equipment and report any malfunctions to the Chief Therapist and physicists.
    · Participate in programs to measure and improve quality of care, including:
    • Patient Experience initiatives
    • Quality improvement measures
    • Chart rounding
    • Department meetings

    · Participate in regulatory compliance activities and maintain continuous departmental readiness for inspections and surveys.
    · Follow all radiation safety standards.
    · Wear a radiation monitoring badge and an ID badge at all times.

    Required qualifications:

    Job Requirements
    · Completion of a formal professional study program in radiological technology.
    · Croatian Chamber License for Independent Practice.
    · At least two (2) years’ experience in a clinical setting, specifically with CT imaging, is required; PET/CT experience preferred.
    · Strong understanding of PET and CT imaging principles and safety protocols.
    · Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking both English and Croatian is required.
