Lifeguard – QC NY Spa (Governors Island) Evening & Closing Weekend Shifts

Role Overview

We are seeking a vigilant, team-oriented, and hospitable Lifeguard to join our wellness oasis at QC NY Spa on Governors Island for key weekend closing coverage. In this role, you will be the primary guardian of our guests' safety while ensuring their evening experience remains relaxing, safe, and luxurious.

Getting to work is seamless: the ferry is a short, free 7 to 10-minute ride departing right near the South Ferry train exit in Lower Manhattan.

We have an immediate need for weekend evening coverage and are offering an expedited hiring process—if you can attend an in-person interview and present valid, current Lifeguard certifications, we can onboard you right away!

Shift Details & Openings Needed

• Friday: 3:30 PM – 11:00 PM (2 openings)

• Saturday: 3:30 PM – 11:00 PM (4 openings)

• Sunday: 3:30 PM – 10:00 PM (3 openings — Sunday closes at 10 PM)

Key Responsibilities

• Execute Closing Procedures: Lead end-of-day pool facility closures, including clear patron clearance, secured cover deployment/pool lockup, night-time chemical and flow checks, and ensuring all areas are properly secured before departure.

• Monitor Patron Safety: Actively scan and monitor the pools and surrounding areas to ensure the continuous safety and well-being of all spa guests throughout evening operations.

• Enforce DOH Regulations: Maintain a strict, working knowledge of New York Department of Health (DOH) pool safety codes and regulations, keeping the facility fully compliant at all times.

• Maintain Equipment: Conduct regular inspections of all pool and rescue equipment, ensuring everything is properly sanitized, stowed, and operational for the next day's opening team.

• Hazard Prevention: Continuously squeegee and dry the pool deck to eliminate slip-and-fall hazards and keep the deck pristine during busy evening hours.

• Deliver Exceptional Hospitality: Warmly greet guests arriving at the pool deck and promptly assist with any inquiries or requests with a high standard of luxury customer service.

• Collaborate with the Team: Work seamlessly with fellow lifeguards and spa staff during evening rotations, emergency responses, and final facility wrap-ups.

• Drive Accountability: Foster a responsible team environment by holding peers accountable to safety protocols, operational standards, and shift task lists.

• Radiate Positivity: Bring a proactive, welcoming, and solutions-focused attitude to every shift.

• Uphold Brand Excellence: Embody and strictly maintain QC NY Spa’s standards for professionalism, uniform appearance, and high-end guest care from clock-in to clock-out.

Requirements

• Valid, current Lifeguard, First Aid, and CPR/AED certifications (must be presented at interview).

• Ability to attend an in-person interview on short notice.

• Strong availability for the required Friday, Saturday, or Sunday evening/closing hours.
