    Top Skills:

    1. Splunk administration: platform administration, Configuration of data feeds, change management; She ultimately wants someone who can both engineer and administer the newly implemented environment. They need to be able to stand up and configure the environment through using queries to create and optimize dashboards as well as build out applications within splunk.

    2. Scripting: python or shell preferrably; using to pull data from the cloud or SAAS solutions

    3. Database: understanding of databases; no preference on the type

    Job Description:

    Configure and manage Splunk, including installation, data inputs and forwarder configuration, data management, user accounts, licenses, distributed search, and basic monitoring and troubleshooting.

    Maintains the Splunk SoftWare and it’s infrastructure for optimal performance

    Adds data sources to the Splunk platform according to Power User needs

    Assist power users with the development of advanced dashboards, alerting and reporting

    In conjunction with the CTO office, reviews and approves technical architecture for new

    application, infrastructure, network and communications technology strategies and plans related to configuration, upgrades, performance and capacity.

    In conjunction with the third party vendor monitors and reviews technical policies, procedures and standards for all applications and infrastructure technology.

    Participates and reviews the design of the installation and testing of new production support systems. Reviews and approves vendor analyses of changing system processing demands.

    Reviews and approves technical architecture for new network technology strategies and plans related to configuration, upgrades, performance and capacity to ensure systems meet performance level and interoperability requirements. Participates and reviews the design of the installation and testing of all new network systems.

    Communicates enhancement production projects/tasks designs, schedules and status to appropriate team, systems management and users.

    Experience:

    Seven to ten years’ experience in systems design and/or programming, configuration work or managing various systems in a multi-platform environment

    Minimum of 5 years of experience in capacity planning and management experience with at least

    3 years in a production support role with focus on monitoring, trending, forecasting, log analyzer

    tools such as Splunk, Elk Stack, SaaS Analyzers (Sumo Logic, Loggly, Splunk > Storm), Open

    Source Analyzers (Logstash, GrayLog2), etc.

    3+ years’ experience as Splunk System Administrator.

    Advanced experience in complex IT operational environments in various aspects of design, engineering, analysis, testing, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and ongoing support

    Minimum four years implementation experience in Wintel, Unix, databases, MiddleWare, Voice and Data network, storage including backup and recovery, monitoring and problem resolution/isolation preferred.

    Two years experience with Cisco routers, switches, and access devices

    4 years of experience with IT protocol and standards

    OR

    Any combination of academic education, professional training or work experience, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    Excellent problem solving skills

    Excellent analytical, trouble-shooting and communication skills

    Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects and work in a team environment

    Demonstrated ability to work effectively while handling multiple projects

    Ability to work in a multi-platform environment where interconnectivity of operating systems and applications is utilized

    Expert knowledge of computer installation, configuration and application technologies

    Knowledgeable in Unix, Linux, Windows, Oracle, SQL, MySQL, Oracle, VAX/VMS, I Series, Zos, and Networking, Storage, Backup and Recovery

    Extensive knowledge of layer 1 & 2 problem determination and ability to clearly define a problem and a course of action

    Understanding of EIA/TIA industry standards, including testing methodologies with regards to layer one connectivity

    Knowledgeable in problem, incident and change management
