The Level II Maintenance Technician Electrical is a skilled technician capable of performing complex electrical repairs, troubleshooting production equipment and supporting continuous improvement efforts. This role requires strong technical ability and a solid understanding of steel pipe manufacturing processes.
Your Day-to-Day Impact
You’ll play a vital role in our Maintenance team by:
- Perform intermediate electrical installations with limited supervision.
- Conduct preventive maintenance and document findings.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues using testing equipment and diagnostic methods.
- Perform basic VFD programming and assist with system optimization.
- Interpret electrical schematics and apply them to field work.
- Lead small tasks or work segments within larger projects.
- Perform rigging and safety procedures with confidence.
- Work independently on routine repairs and escalate complex issues appropriately.
- Support training of Level 1 employees through guidance and demonstration.
What You Bring
We’re looking for candidates who are sharp, safety-focused, and ready to roll up their sleeves:
- High School diploma or equivalent a must
- 3-5 years of prior experience in Manufacturing or in a heavy industrial equipment environment
- Language skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Mathematical skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Reasoning ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
- Technical knowledge of DC equipment and controls, including batteries, DC circuits, and power distribution systems.
- Working knowledge of single-phase motors, three-phase electrical systems, transformers, and AC circuit fundamentals.
- Proficiency in the use of electrical measuring instruments for testing, diagnostics, and system analysis.
- Experience with AC control equipment, electrical safety practices, and electrical protection systems.
- Strong electrical troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Knowledge of power supplies, digital logic systems, and industrial input/output (I/O) devices.
- Ability to read, interpret, and work from electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical blueprints.
- Understanding of ladder logic and its application within industrial automation environments.
- Experience troubleshooting, configuring, and maintaining Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
- Working knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), including basic programming, diagnostics, and system support.
- Ability to safely perform electrical maintenance activities in accordance with company policies and applicable regulations.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
