Verdantas is seeking motivated, dependable individuals to join our FDOT Vegetation Maintenance team. This field-based position is well suited for candidates who enjoy working outdoors, operating equipment, and supporting transportation and environmental infrastructure.

Work is performed at roadside rights-of-way, stormwater treatment facilities, mitigation sites, wetlands, ponds, and other FDOT-maintained locations. Activities include herbicide application, invasive vegetation removal, mowing, trash and debris removal, tree and brush removal, boat work, equipment operation, and field documentation.

What You'll Do:

• Apply herbicides in accordance with product labels, FDOT specifications, and company procedures
• Perform hand removal, trimming, cutting, mowing, and tree or brush removal
• Maintain stormwater ponds, wetlands, mitigation areas, ditches, roadside rights-of-way, and transportation corridors
• Remove trash, debris, and unwanted vegetation
• Perform boat-based field work and assist with safe boat launching, loading, operation, and site access
• Operate backpack sprayers, UTVs, mowers, trucks, trailers, boats, chainsaws, string trimmers, and other field equipment
• Load, transport, mix, and handle herbicides safely
• Identify target vegetation and communicate changing site conditions
• Complete daily work logs, herbicide application records, and required field documentation
• Follow FDOT, OSHA, company safety, and environmental compliance requirements

What You'll Bring:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must currently hold at least one of the following Florida pesticide applicator credentials: Aquatic Pest Control Applicator License, Right-of-Way Pest Control Applicator License, Natural Areas Weed Management certification, Limited Commercial Landscape Maintenance certification, or Lawn and Ornamental Pest Control certification
• Strong work ethic and willingness to perform physically demanding outdoor work
• Ability to work safely in hot, humid Florida weather and changing field conditions
• Ability to walk long distances over uneven terrain and work around wetlands, ponds, roadsides, and open water
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and operate a backpack sprayer for extended periods
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Candidates must maintain reliable transportation to and from our Tampa office. Company vehicles are provided for travel to FDOT project sites and for work-related travel throughout the day.

Salary Range:

The starting salary for this position is $25.00 / hour with final compensation determined based on qualifications.
