Backend Developer

Overview

We are seeking a Backend Software Developer to join a growing technology team focused on delivering innovative digital solutions that enhance operational efficiency and user experiences. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing and supporting scalable, cloud-based applications, with a strong focus on backend development, APIs and Azure technologies.

This role offers the opportunity to work on modern cloud-native solutions while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software that meets business needs.

Principal Responsibilities 

• Design, Develop and maintain high-quality back-end services using Azure cloud technologies.

• Proficient in typescript, node.js or python for delivery of services and API’s and familiarity with associated frameworks using those languages.

• Implement RESTful API’s and services to support web and mobile applications.

• Collaborate with designers and business stakeholders to understand requirements to deliver solutions to meet the business need.

• Design and manage databases (SQL and NoSQL) to ensure efficient data storage and retrieval.

• Leverage Azure services (Azure functions, Azure App Service, Azure SQL etc) to build scalable and resilient back-end systems.

• Write clean, maintainable and efficient code ensuring best practices followed.

• Implement and maintain unit testing frameworks to ensure code quality.

• Work closely with cross functional teams including designers, developers and business stakeholders.

• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.

• Communicate effectively with stake holders and business units to better understand the need and ensure its being met through technical specifications.

• Create and maintain technical documentation for web applications, including setup, guides and API documentation.

Knowledge, Qualifications, Experience & Skills

Experience

• 3+ years professional software development experience with a focus on cloud and web technologies

• Strong experience with Azure cloud or AWS or GCP services and architecture

• Proven track record of building and deploying scalable web applications.

• Familiarity with containerisation technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)

Skills

• Strong understanding of RESTful API’s and microservices / services architectures.

• Experience Azure cloud services (e.g. functions, service bus and DevOps)

• Experience with Git and GitHub workflows.

• Expertise with RESTful API’s and back-end integration.

• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

• Experience with database technologies (SQL Server, MySQL, Azure SQL and NoSQL).

• Comfortable building on and improving CI/CD pipelines.

• Self-motivated with a passion for keeping up with industry trends.

• Clear communicator and collaborator with stakeholders and project teams

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Formal Education Qualifications

• Degree/Diploma/Certification in Computer Science, Web Development, or related field.

• Agile/DevOps related certifications such as – SCRUM Master, Cloud Foundations, etc., is desirable
