    Job description

Victory Programs is an established non-profit organization based in Boston that provides housing, and innovative and comprehensive direct care services, to individuals and families with very specialized needs. The majority of our clients are homeless, experiencing substance use disorder and are also struggling with a chronic health condition such as HIV/AIDS or diagnosed mental illness. Twenty percent are women caring for children, and 75 percent of Victory Programs' clients are homeless upon admission.

Victory Programs' overall goals include providing our clients with the tools to remake their lives, and to help them return to the community to live independently. We support our clients and their families as they work toward transforming their lives: many are working to recover from addiction, stabilizing and improving their health, and re-building their families; others desire to have a healthy baby. All need to develop life and job skills, seek educational opportunities, find appropriate housing and employment, and establish a web of support that will sustain them as they move toward independence. As a result of participating in one of our programs, many clients are able to make the transition from being homeless and unemployed, to having a stable job and living in their own home, quite possibly for the first time in their lives.

The A/P Staff Accountant is responsible for the agency’s routine Accounts Payable tasks. This position reports to and is directly supervised by the Accounting Manager. The A/P Staff Accountant also provides general office support for the Finance department.

    Key duties include:

    • Manage and maintain the AP mail and email on a daily basis.
    • Invoice processing: Reviewing, coding, obtaining approval and processing invoices using Bill.com
    • Vendor Management: Maintain vendor records, communicate with vendors regarding invoices, payments, and resolving AP related discrepancies.
    • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate AP files including notes on communication with vendors
    • Recording payment as received in the G/L and in the contract management systems as part of the Department's shared coverage for receivables.
    • Reconciliations and general ledger entries.
    • Reporting: AP aging.
    • Manage A/P related queries (internal and external), questions and correspondences, both verbal and written.
    • Manage and reconcile the Credit Card payments and the credit card processing.
    • General Accounting data entry.
    • General accounting research as required.
    • Assisting with audits.
    • Manage Petty Cash, both centrally and across all Programs and carry out regular reconciliations.
    • Other accounting tasks as required.

    Qualifications:

    • Associate Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field.
    • 2 years plus of experience in relevant position.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel & Word, Google Workspace, and/or other office software. Knowledge of Bill.com is preferred.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Business Central is preferred; knowledge of other ERP system is required.
    • Highly organized and efficient, and the ability to work well under pressure.
    • Be able to prioritize workload.
    • Be able to work independently.
    • Team player and willing to assist others as required.

Position type: Full-time (40 hours) Monday - Friday, daytime. Hybrid eligible.

    Rate: $26.81/hr
