    Job description

Vierbicher is a team of professional engineers, planners, community development specialists, land surveyors and GIS specialists who provide comprehensive solutions for a wide range of projects. Our goal is to provide clients with creative consulting services and quality products, enabling them to efficiently and effectively meet their goals. We work to build strong relationships with our clients that promote trust, cooperation and teamwork.

Now in our 50th year, we are proud to be an employee-owned firm recognized by Zweig Group as one of 2026's Best Firms To Work For, our fourth time earning the honor, and named to its Hot Firm list of the fastest-growing firms in the industry. We believe that recognition reflects the people behind it, the same people who own the firm and shape its future.

The Civil Engineering Technician supports engineering project leaders by performing drafting and

design using AutoCAD Civil 3D. This position is also responsible for preparing construction plans and

specifications for a variety of municipal and private development projects including street design,

sanitary collection, water distribution, grading, erosion control and stormwater management plans. This

position may occasionally participate and conduct construction site observations as well.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Drafting and Design: Utilize AutoCAD, Civil 3D to prepare detailed construction plans, profiles, cross-sections, and structural details.
    • Plan Generation: Develop comprehensive plan sets, including grading, utility, drainage, and erosion control plans.
    • Data Integration: Import and manipulate GIS data, topographic surveys, and laser scanning data into CAD software.
    • Permit Preparation: Coordinate and compile technical permit application packages for local, state, and federal agencies (e.g., stormwater management, utility connections, right-of-way, and environmental permits). Monitor permit statuses, address review comments from agency engineers, and ensure designs comply with local municipal codes and zoning ordinances.
    • Coordination Meetings: Attend construction coordination and pre-submittal meetings with local municipalities and regulatory authorities to review project plans, clarify design intent, and expedite approvals.
    • Design Support: Assist engineers with routine calculations (e.g., earthwork volumes, pipe sizing, material take-offs) and ensure designs meet local agency standards.
    • Quality Control: Perform self-checks and quality reviews of drawings for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to company drafting standards.
    • Collaboration: Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other technicians to meet project deadlines and resolve design challenges.
    • Other duties as assigned.
