Community and Resident Resiliency Coordinator

The Virgin Islands Housing Authority’s (VIHA) Community and Resident Resiliency Coordinator is assigned a portfolio of VIHA communities and serves as a key member of the housing authority’s team responsible for enhanced Micro and Macro Level service provision working to create or bring together key systems needed to improve the health and wellness of all VIHA residents residing in the assigned communities. The Community and Resident Resiliency Coordinator will engage in a variety of roles, including advocating on behalf of residents, community organizing, researching, and assessing individual and community needs, innovative health and wellness program development and rollout, policymaking, grant‑making and procuring services and resources, and tracking and reporting resident and community outcomes. The Community and Resident Resiliency Coordinator will work with residents to create community and individualized development plans to promote personal growth and chart their unique path to higher levels of self-sufficiency. Additionally, Resiliency Coordinators in this role are instrumental in facilitating “healthy aging” and assisting residents with transitioning back to their homes from hospitals, nursing homes, or rehabilitation facilities, providing support in cases of health emergencies or near-emergency events, assistance with medication self-management, and interaction with resident families and caregivers. Much of the work of VIHA’s Community and Resident Resiliency Coordinator will be done in partnership with the Onsite Resident Services Coordinator and property manager employed by both VIHA and/or its development partners, as well as the territories various community-based service provider partners and other stakeholders. Must be able to be based in either the St. Thomas or St. Croix districts.
