Independent Living Driver

Vincentian's Independent Living in McCandless is looking for a dependable and compassionate Independent Living Driver to provide safe, reliable transportation for our residents while also assisting with light property, vehicle, and event support. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys helping others, providing excellent customer service, and staying active throughout the workday.

What You’ll Do

• Safely transport residents to medical appointments, shopping trips, events, and other organized outings.
• Assist residents in and out of vehicles and escort them to and from appointments when needed.
• Provide wheelchair transportation using the Independent Living wheelchair-accessible bus.
• Provide transportation support for other Vincentian ministries as needed.
• Communicate with residents, Independent Living management, and office staff to ensure timely and efficient transportation.
• Monitor the Independent Living schedule and respond to schedule additions and changes throughout the day.
• Perform light property and maintenance tasks, including:
  • Indoor and outdoor sweeping
  • Changing lightbulbs, filters, and batteries
  • Moving furniture
  • Room and event setup
  • Light grounds upkeep
  • Snow removal as needed
• Deliver mail to residents within the facility.
• Assist with event setup and teardown.
• Clean and service vehicles, including fueling and maintaining necessary supplies.
• Complete daily and weekly vehicle inspections and maintain required maintenance records.
• Monitor scheduled vehicle maintenance and inspections and report vehicle problems or defects to the supervisor promptly.
• Assist with coordinating vehicle maintenance and repairs.
• Maintain a safe driving record in accordance with Vincentian policies.
• Follow all facility and department policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
• Provide kind, respectful, and dignified service to residents, families, visitors, coworkers, and customers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Schedule

• Full Time
• Standard daylight hours typically
• Some evening and weekend availability may be required
• Flexible scheduling based on transportation and resident needs

What We’re Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver's license required.
• At least 2 years of driving experience required.
• Basic maintenance knowledge preferred.
• Comfortable using a smartphone for scheduling and communication.
• Dependable, safety-conscious, and customer-service oriented.
• Ability to interact with residents, families, coworkers, and visitors with kindness, respect, and dignity.
