    Job Description

    The Financial Crime Manager sits within the wider 2nd line Financial Crime function under the Group Head of Financial Crime. The role supports financial crime oversight, investigations, escalations, advisory activity and control enhancement across Currencycloud, helping to ensure financial crime risks are identified, assessed, managed and escalated appropriately.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Manage and support day-to-day activity across assigned Financial Crime workstreams, which may include supervision, investigations, escalations, advisory reviews, remediation and control oversight.
    • Review, assess and make risk-based recommendations or decisions on financial crime matters, including escalated client, transaction, adverse media, sanctions, fraud, PEP or risk appetite issues.
    • Act as a key point of contact for financial crime queries, ensuring matters are triaged, documented, escalated and resolved in line with applicable policies, procedures and risk appetite.
    • Develop, maintain and improve procedures, guidance, playbooks and operating standards across relevant financial crime activities.
    • Partner with Compliance, Product, Legal, Operations, Risk and other stakeholders to embed effective 2nd line oversight and a strong financial crime risk management culture.
    • Ensure relevant teams and stakeholders receive appropriate guidance, training and feedback on financial crime expectations, controls and procedures.
    • Monitor, assess and improve processes, SLAs, KPIs, Management Information (MI), quality control and governance reporting to support effective oversight and operational performance.
    • Provide leadership, coaching and subject matter expertise to colleagues, supporting consistent decision-making and high-quality financial crime outcomes.
    • Keep stakeholders updated on relevant risks, themes, projects and regulatory developments, and support timely escalation of material issues.
    • Design, oversee and evidence quality control and assurance activity for relevant processes and decisioning.
    • Monitor and support team performance, provide constructive feedback, and contribute to objective setting and delivery tracking where applicable.
    • Support resource planning, prioritisation and capacity management across assigned workstreams.
    • Inform senior management promptly of key risks, critical findings, emerging issues, performance concerns and capacity constraints.
    • Maintain knowledge of emerging financial crime typologies, regulatory expectations and industry developments.
    • Undertake additional responsibilities, projects and remediation activity as required by management.

    We are currently operating a hybrid working policy, with the expectation being 3 days per week in the Warsaw office.

    Qualifications

    Education & Experience:

    • Extensive relevant financial crime, compliance, risk or operations experience, ideally within payments, banking, fintech or another regulated financial services environment.
    • Experience managing a team.
    • Strong working knowledge of UK and/or European financial crime regulatory expectations, with broader international exposure beneficial.
    • Financial crime subject matter knowledge across areas such as AML/CTF, sanctions, fraud, KYC/KYB, due diligence, investigations, monitoring, escalation handling and control oversight.

    Skills:

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial crime matters clearly and concisely to varied audiences.
    • Strong analytical judgement, problem-solving skills and confidence to make risk-based recommendations while remaining factual, balanced and evidence-led.
    • Exceptional organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise competing workstreams based on risk, impact and urgency.
