We’re looking for a motivated Junior Cost Estimator to join our Project Controls team and support the development and construction of EV charging infrastructure projects.
This is a great opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career professional with at least 1 year of experience who has a foundation in construction, architecture, or engineering and wants to build a career in cost estimating, project controls, and EV charging infrastructure development.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Review civil, electrical, architectural, and construction drawings to understand project scope and identify key cost drivers.
- Perform detailed quantity take-offs. The Junior Cost Estimator can be expected to complete an average of 6-8 take-offs per week.
- Develop and present indicative cost estimates for EV charging projects. Identify assumptions, allowances, alternates, potential risk, and cost drivers.
- Assist senior cost estimator with RFP efforts including but not limited to creating and requesting RFPs, attending introduction calls, managing RFIs, reviewing and leveling general contractor bids, and presenting findings to the greater project controls and development teams.
- Update estimates as designs, site conditions, and client requirements change.
- Help maintain estimating databases, historical costs, contractor pricing, and project documentation.
- Work with senior estimators, engineers, development teams, and other stakeholders to deliver accurate estimates within the required project deadlines.
MUST-HAVE:
- Bachelor’s degree in construction science, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related field.
- 0–2 years of experience, including internships or co-ops, with a general contractor, architecture/engineering firm, developer, construction management firm, or similar organization.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Understanding of construction terminology, materials, and basic construction methods.
- Willingness to learn the electrical, civil, and utility infrastructure associated with EV charging projects.
- Basic to intermediate understanding of construction estimating and quantity takeoffs.
- Previous experience with Bluebeam Revu, On-Screen Takeoff, Procore, Smartsheet, Asana, Salesforce, AutoCAD, or similar construction/project management software is a plus.
- Ability to communicate professionally with general contractors, subcontractors, vendors, engineers, and internal project teams.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritize multiple assignments and meet project deadlines.
- Willingness to work in a team environment.
LOCATION:
- Remote, USA (in Austin market a big plus)
