Job Summary
Manage all aspects of the daily operation of a ready mix concrete plant, including material production, equipment maintenance and plant personnel. Responsible for the overall safe and efficient production and/or delivery of ready mix concrete while maintaining a high degree of product quality and customer satisfaction at an assigned facility.
Essential Functions
- Batch concrete according to specification of tickets and load trucks
- Coordinate with dispatch for efficient delivery of concrete
- Oversee general appearance and security of grounds, buildings, equipment and machinery
- Ensure preventative maintenance is performed on all plant equipment
- Review driver’s daily vehicle reports and coordinate any repairs with Fleet Maintenance
- Order raw materials and operating supplies
- Maintain inventories and monitor plant operating costs; prepare daily reports
- Participate in training, evaluation, progressive discipline and discharge of personnel
- Conduct safety meetings and plant safety and/or environmental inspections
- Responsible for ensuring environmental and safety policy compliance of all activities at the facility, including outside contractors, and to immediately take appropriate steps to correct conditions of non-compliance.
- Conduct daily quality control sampling of aggregate properties; record results appropriately
- Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor
- Complies with all and ensures compliance of all Safety, Health, Environmental and other Company policies, procedures and requirements

- Operate front end loader to feed ready mix plant and move material
- Drive ready mix concrete truck to deliver concrete or transport vehicles
- Assist in maintenance and upkeep of yard, plant and office

Responsibilities
Education
- HS Diploma or equivalent required. Associates degree preferred.
Experience
- Three (3) years working in the production of ready mixed concrete preferred.
- Previous ready mix batching experience preferred.
- Previous experience driving ready mix trucks preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must have sufficient level of education to understand oral and written instructions of a technical nature relating to products and vehicles.
- Must have the ability to maintain satisfactory customer and public relations in performance of duties.
- Must be able to obtain DOT batch plant operator certification.
- Knowledge of safety and environmental rules and regulations (OSHA).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Google, Oracle Business Environment and other software packages relevant to the position.
- Flexible to work long hours and travel when needed.
Other Requirements
- This position requires knowledge and awareness of site hazards.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be required where appropriate.
- Position requires ability to work at multiple sites and varying start times dependent on business needs.
- Some overtime and weekend work required.
- Requires use of telephone, computers, cell phones and other electronic devices.
- Must have the ability to lift 50 pounds and to stand and walk for long periods of time.
- Ability to work in a stressful, deadline oriented environment that requires complex, technical information and decision making.
- Must be willing to work rotating shift including night work.
