The Technical Operator (Laminator) will be responsible for operating and monitoring solar module laminating equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and consistent production. This role will involve loading and unloading materials, setting and monitoring temperature, pressure, vacuum, and cycle parameters, inspecting modules for quality defects, performing basic troubleshooting and equipment adjustments, completing production and quality documentation, and maintaining a clean and safe work area. The operator will follow established safety and quality procedures while meeting production targets and supporting continuous improvement efforts.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate and monitor solar module laminating equipment in accordance with established procedures and production specifications.
- Load, position, and unload solar modules and materials safely and accurately.
- Set and verify laminator parameters, including temperature, pressure, vacuum, and cycle time.
- Inspect module layups for proper alignment, cleanliness, and material placement before lamination.
- Monitor equipment operation and respond appropriately to alarms, process deviations, or abnormal conditions.
- Perform visual and basic quality inspections to identify bubbles, wrinkles, delamination, contamination, misalignment, and other defects.
- Record production, quality, and process information accurately in required documentation or systems.
- Perform basic troubleshooting and operator-level adjustments within established procedures.
- Escalate equipment, material, or quality issues to the appropriate supervisor, technician, or maintenance team.
- Perform routine cleaning and operator-level preventive maintenance on laminating equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area following 5S and company safety standards.
- Follow all applicable PPE, safety, quality, and environmental procedures.
- Meet established production, quality, and efficiency targets.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce defects, downtime, and material waste.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or technical certification.
- 1–3 years of experience in manufacturing, preferably in solar module or electronics production. (Relevant technical education or formal training may substitute for required work experience).
- Experience operating automated or semi-automated production equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret work instructions, technical drawings, and production schedules.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and machine interface operation.
- Technical aptitude to operate and troubleshoot machinery.
- High level of attention to detail to ensure quality and accurate alignment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in manufacturing environment, including standing and walking for up to 12 hours per day.
- Ability to lift, push or pull up to 30 lbs.
- Ability to stoop, kneel, bend on occasional basis
- Ability to reach above shoulder and below waist frequently
- Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects repetitively on a frequent basis
