Transportation is a critical part of that mission. As our Transportation Coordinator, you will help ensure individuals have access to community activities, employment opportunities, appointments, and services while maintaining a safe, compliant, and reliable agency fleet.
This position is ideal for someone who thrives on organization, problem-solving, coordinating multiple priorities, and responding calmly to unexpected transportation challenges.
What You'll Be Responsible For
Fleet Compliance & Maintenance
- Maintain compliance with INDOT 5310 Grant requirements.
- Coordinate annual Braun lift inspections.
- Coordinate annual preventative maintenance inspections.
- Complete ongoing vehicle safety inspections.
- Coordinate regular oil changes and scheduled maintenance for the agency fleet.
- Assist the Asset Manager with processing and delivering required documentation to funding sources.
Transportation Coordination
- Assist individuals served with:
- City bus passes
- Uber trips
- Medicaid Waiver-funded transportation services
- Support transportation billing requirements and documentation.
- Coordinate transportation solutions to ensure continuity of services.
Vehicle Breakdowns & Emergency Response
- Lead and coordinate roadside and parking lot breakdown response efforts.
- Arrange vehicle repairs and service appointments.
- Coordinate replacement vehicles as needed.
Driver Training & Safety
- Conduct driving tests for new hires.
- Complete post-accident driving evaluations and re-tests.
- Provide vehicle safety training for agency employees.
- Conduct post-accident and other required safety retraining sessions.
- Promote safe vehicle operation and compliance with agency transportation policies.
Must-Have Qualifications
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
- Ability to meet agency driver eligibility standards and maintain insurability.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and email.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
- Ability to respond to transportation-related emergencies.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and compliance documentation.
- Ability to train, coach, and evaluate employee driving performance.
- Commitment to safety, customer service, and supporting individuals with disabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in transportation coordination, fleet management, dispatching, logistics, or vehicle maintenance scheduling.
- Experience with grant compliance and regulatory reporting.
- Experience conducting safety training or driver evaluations.
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Knowledge of Medicaid Waiver transportation services.
