    The role you’ll play

WM New Zealand is looking for a proactive Despatch Coordinator to join our Technical Services team in East Tamaki, Auckland. You’ll be at the centre of our daily transport operations, connecting customers, drivers and operational teams to ensure services run safely, efficiently and on time.

No two days will be the same. You’ll coordinate daily transport activities, respond to unexpected changes and use operational data to improve routes, productivity and customer outcomes.

    Key responsibilities

    • Coordinating between customer service, operations and drivers to deliver reliable customer service.
    • Monitoring daily routes and responding quickly to missed, delayed or rescheduled jobs.
    • Reviewing and improving route sequencing to increase efficiency and reduce fuel use.
    • Identifying system or route issues and ensuring information remains accurate.
    • Communicating with customers about delays or service changes.
    • Monitoring unserviced, rolled and rejected jobs and helping resolve issues.
    • Reviewing operational documents, run sheets, weigh dockets and system information.
    • Supporting reporting, data entry, purchase orders, weighbridge lodgements and end-of-month tasks.
    • Contributing to improvements across operational systems and processes.

    What you’ll need

You’re calm under pressure, confident communicating with different people and comfortable making decisions when plans change.

    • Experience in customer service, coordination, administration or a similar operational role.
    • Transport, logistics or despatch experience would be an advantage.
    • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong organisation and time-management skills.
    • The ability to manage competing priorities without losing attention to detail.
    • Confidence learning new technology and specialist systems.
    • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
    • An analytical mindset and the ability to use system information to improve efficiency.
    • Experience with systems such as Elemos, Salesforce, ERoad or JDE would be beneficial.
    • A strong commitment to health, safety and doing things the right way.

    What’s in it for you

This is an opportunity to take on a varied and important role where your decisions will have a direct impact on our customers and day-to-day operations.

You’ll work with people across the business, develop your knowledge of transport operations and help us continuously improve the way we deliver our services.

    • Permanent, full-time work in a stable industry.
    • Competitive rates.
    • Ongoing training, development, and upskilling.
    • A supportive team culture where your mahi is valued.
    • Hours: 40 hours per week
