    Job description

TF-CBT Clinical Intern (Master's Level Required)

    Youth, Adolescents & Families

    Why Wedgwood?

Since 1960, Wedgwood Christian Services has been dedicated to boldly taking on the toughest mental health and behavioral health problems in West Michigan. We serve children, teens, families, and adults through residential care, counseling services, and community programs.

    Build Clinical Skills in TF-CBT

We are seeking Master’s-level practicum students who have completed relevant coursework and training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).

In this on-site internship, you will gain hands-on experience supporting youth, adolescents, and families through evidence-based, trauma-focused treatment. Working alongside trained clinicians, you’ll learn how to apply the TF-CBT model in real clinical settings—supporting treatment planning, participating in sessions, and building foundational skills for certification and future practice.

*relevant coursework and training in TF-CBT modality required

    Schedule & Compensation

    • On-site internship
    • 12-18 hours weekly based on academic requirements
    • $16.00/hour

    What You’ll Learn & Do

With guidance from a supervising clinician, you will:

    • Assist in developing and implementing treatment plans using the TF-CBT model
    • Observe and participate in individual and family therapy sessions
    • Support delivery of trauma-informed, evidence-based interventions
    • Participate in clinical documentation and case preparation
    • Collaborate with the treatment team to support holistic care
    • Engage in regular supervision, feedback, and professional development
    • Help maintain a safe, respectful, and therapeutic environment grounded in the Sanctuary Model (safety, emotional intelligence, open communication, and social learning)
    • May carry a small caseload in later semesters, if approved by your academic program

    Background & Qualifications

    • Currently enrolled in a Master of Social Work (MSW) program.
    • Completion of relevant TF-CBT coursework and/or training required
    • Strong interest in trauma-informed care and working with youth and families
    • Commitment to ethical practice, cultural humility, and professional growth
    • Ability to maintain consistent, reliable attendance and adhere to scheduled hours
    • Alignment with Wedgwood’s Statement of Faith, vision, and values
