    Job description

    Overview

    Administers, maintains, and supports Gerber Life Insurance enterprise infrastructure applications and technologies across Windows and Linux environments. Ensures the security, availability, and performance of assigned systems through lifecycle management, vulnerability remediation, patching, troubleshooting, operational support, and collaboration with internal teams and technology partners.

    Responsibilities

    What you will do:
    • Administers, supports, and maintains Windows and Linux operating systems, infrastructure applications, and supporting services to ensure secure, reliable, and highly available technology solutions. Troubleshoots application, system, and infrastructure issues, performs root cause analysis, and implements corrective actions to improve operational stability.
    • Installs, configures, upgrades, patches, monitors, and manages the lifecycle of Windows and Linux operating systems and infrastructure applications. Evaluates vulnerability findings, coordinates security remediation efforts, validates successful deployment of operating system and application updates, and ensures compliance with organizational security standards, security baselines, and service level objectives.
    • Manages vendor relationships and third-party support for assigned technologies, coordinating issue resolution, software maintenance, upgrades, licensing, and operational support while ensuring timely delivery of services.
    • Evaluates, tests, implements, and supports new infrastructure technologies and software solutions. Develops implementation plans, performs system validation, and ensures solutions align with organizational standards, security requirements, and best practices.
    • Develops and maintains technical documentation, operational procedures, knowledge articles, testing plans, disaster recovery documentation, and automation to improve operational efficiency, consistency, and resiliency.
    • Collaborates with infrastructure, security, networking, and application development teams to ensure reliable and secure application services.
    • Participates in disaster recovery testing, scheduled maintenance, production implementations, performance monitoring, and on-call support to maintain system availability, operational readiness, and business continuity.
    • Performs other duties as assigned and complies with all company policies, standards, security requirements, and regulatory obligations.

    Qualifications

    • Associate's Degree Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. - Required
    • Two or more years of experience supporting enterprise Windows and/or Linux operating systems, infrastructure applications, or related technologies. - Required
    • Demonstrated experience with Wintel systems. - Preferred
    • Experience troubleshooting complex technical issues and coordinating resolution across multiple teams and vendors. - Required
    • Experience with operating system and application patch management, vulnerability remediation, system monitoring, and operational support. - Required
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. - Required
    • Experience utilizing enterprise vulnerability management, endpoint management, or patch management platforms (e.g., Qualys, Microsoft Intune, MECM/SCCM, Tanium, BigFix, Ivanti, or equivalent). - Preferred
    • Experience supporting environments that integrate with mainframe technologies. - Preferred
    • Experience with infrastructure monitoring, logging, or performance management tools. - Preferred
    • Understanding of enterprise networking, Active Directory, authentication technologies, certificates, and infrastructure security principles. - Preferred
    • Understanding of disaster recovery, business continuity, change management, and IT service management (ITIL) practices. - Preferred
    • Experience with scripting or automation using PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar technologies is preferred. - Preferred
    • Industry certifications such as Microsoft, Red Hat, ITIL, CompTIA, VMware, or other relevant certifications Upon Hire - Preferred
    Work Setting/Position Demands:
    • Works in an office setting and remains in a stationary position for long periods of time while working at a desk, on a computer or with other standard office equipment, or while in meetings.
    • Requires the ability to verbally communicate and exchange accurate information to customers and associates on a regular basis.
    • Requires visual acuity to read and interpret a variety of correspondence, procedures, reports and forms via paper and electronic documents, visual inspection involving small defects; small parts, and/or operation of machinery (including inspection); using measurement devices continuously. Visual acuity is required to determine accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work assigned.
    • Requires the ability to prepare written correspondence, reports and forms using prescribed formats and conforming to rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style on a regular basis.
    • Requires the ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
    • Performs substantial movement of wrists, hands, and fingers for continuous computer work.
    • Extended hours required during peak workloads or special projects/events.
    • Occasional after-hours work needed.
