Carpenter

Primary Job Duties:

•  Custom Builds:
Build and modify bars, furniture, décor, displays, and other event rental pieces from plans, measurements, sketches, or project instructions.

•  Carpentry & Assembly:
Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and install materials to create durable, professional-quality pieces for the Whim Event Rentals inventory.

•  Finishing:
Sand, paint, stain, seal, and refinish pieces to meet design and quality standards.

•  Repairs & Refurbishment:
Inspect damaged rental inventory and complete durable repairs that return pieces to a clean, safe, functional, and rental-ready condition.

•  Project Planning:
Estimate materials and time needed for assigned projects, communicate progress, and complete projects within established production timelines.

•  Quality Assurance:
Check dimensions, stability, appearance, construction, and finish before completed pieces are placed into rental inventory.

•  Tools & Equipment:
Safely use, maintain, and care for woodworking, carpentry, and fabrication tools and equipment.

•  Workspace & Safety:
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area and follow all applicable safety procedures when using tools, equipment, and finishing materials.

•  Inventory Support:
Help maintain the condition, organization, and readiness of Whim Event Rentals’ custom-built and rental inventory.

•  Collaboration:
Work closely with the Whim Event Rentals team to understand project needs, develop practical solutions, and prioritize work based on upcoming events and business needs.

•  Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred; relevant trade school, vocational training, or hands-on technical training is a plus.

•  Experience: At least three years of experience in carpentry, furniture building, cabinetmaking, scenic fabrication, woodworking, custom construction, or a related hands-on trade.

•  Technical Skills: Experience using woodworking and carpentry tools and equipment and applying paint, stain, sealants, or other finishes.

•  Blueprints & Measurements: Ability to accurately read measurements and work from plans, sketches, drawings, or project instructions.

•  Craftsmanship: Strong attention to detail and pride in producing attractive, durable, high-quality work.

•  Problem Solving: Ability to troubleshoot, think creatively, and develop practical solutions when working on custom or one-of-a-kind pieces.

•  Organization: Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize work, meet deadlines, and keep materials and tools organized.

•  Communication: Ability to communicate clearly with managers and team members and work effectively in a collaborative environment.

•  Safety: Commitment to safe tool use, proper handling of finishing materials, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
