Job Description Summary:

The Public Policy Program at William & Mary, a public university of the Commonwealth of Virginia, invites applications for an 18 month, non-tenure track Visiting Teaching Faculty position that will begin January 10, 2027.
We seek an individual with expertise in public policy to teach classes for the undergraduate public policy major (B.A. Public Policy) and for the Master’s in Public Policy (MPP) program. Exceptional candidates will have experience teaching introductory courses in public policy for undergraduates as well as upper-level courses that align with the candidate’s interests. The successful applicant will be expected to be an effective teacher and will have a [3-3] teaching load.

Job Description:

Required Qualifications:

• A Ph.D. degree (or appropriate terminal degree) in Public Policy, Economics, Government/Political Science, Law or a related field or the equivalent (master’s degree and five years working experience in public policy) is required at the time appointment begins (January 10, 2027).

• Applicants must have completed 18 graduate credit hours in the discipline in which they will teach.

• Ability to teach introductory courses in public policy for undergraduates.

• Ability to teach upper-level courses that align with the candidate's interests.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous teaching experience in introductory courses in public policy for undergraduates.

• Previous experience teaching upper-level courses.

Conditions of Employment:

• This position may require additional hours beyond the typical work week, including occasional overnight and weekend work as needed to meet the business needs of the operation.
