Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
We are looking for an experienced support worker to join our 24/7 crisis respite team.  Our service offers support for 4 guests at a time who are experiencing mental health distress.  Referrals come to our service via Te Whatu Ora Mental Health Services and we can receive referrals at any time of the day or night.

On the awake night shift you’ll be there to lend a hand with everyday things like making meals and helping to maintain our whare.  You will provide calm and steady support for guests while they focus on their wellbeing.  Every shift is a chance to make a difference in someone’s life.

You’ll also

• Focus on the individuals needs and provide culturally safe practice
• Complete relevant administrative tasks, take comprehensive notes, provide effective handovers to the next shift, and support and collaborate with your colleagu
• While guests are asleep, you will be kept busy maintaining our beautiful whare, which a place of beauty, tranquillity and healing.

This role is working Thursday to Saturday on our awake nights shift working from 11pm -7.30am in Whanganui.
Mōu | About You
You’re a natural when it comes to caring with empathy and understand the power of working in a recovery-focused way, where individuals take charge of their own journey, making you an ideal fit for this role.

In additions

• You must hold a Level 4 New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (NZCHW) or a recognized equivalent.
• A current full driver’s licence
• Hold a current comprehensive first aid certificate covering units 6400, 6401 and 6402 or be willing to obtain one
• Skills or experience in mindfulness and sensory modulation, or a willingness to develop these approaches to support guests’ wellbeing
• Have knowledge of, and demonstrate commitment to, the principles of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi
