    Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood is currently recruiting for a Buyer / Purchasing Specialist IV in Houston Texas to work within a Wood client office. This is contract position with possibility for extension. The Buyer will be a part of our purchasing team and responsible for entering requisitions and executing purchase orders in SAP. The buyer effectively ensures that materials and services are sourced and purchased in a manner that meets the expectations of a broad North American constituent base.  Functional responsibility for the acquisition of materials and services for an assigned group of categories and suppliers using a standardized procurement process that meets business needs while adhering to Corporate standards and mitigating financial and liability risks.

    **Authorization to work permanently in the U.S. without sponsorship is required.

    Key Accountabilities

    Facilitates the acquisition of materials for an assigned group of categories and suppliers using a standardized procurement process that meets business needs while adhering to Corporate standards and mitigating financial and liability risks, including, but not limited to:

    • Creating purchase orders in SAP and administering the lifecycle of a purchase order from requisition receipt to supplier payment.
    • Selecting an appropriate source of supply.
    • Evaluating vendor quotes to determine most cost effective solution.
    • Utilizing system tools and capabilities to expedite material deliveries.
    • Verify invoice accuracy and facilitate timely resolution of discrepancies.
    • Effectively communicating with suppliers and client groups.
    • Compliance with Client's policy and industry regulations.

    Required and Preferred Skills and Experience

    • Senior level, typically 7+ years of experience.
    • Understands advanced aspects of discipline and is viewed as an expert in a given field.
    • Applies broad range of competencies to develop solutions to complex problems.
    • Influences others to achieve objectives.
    • Often provides specialized/technical/functional guidance to others within department and/or business asset.

    Skills / Qualifications

    Responsibilities:

    Requirements:

    • 3 - 5 years of experience

    • Requires a broader, general understanding of discipline

    • Identifies problems and develops potential solutions

    • Makes decisions within well defined parameters
