Overview / Responsibilities
Wood is currently recruiting for a Commercial Lead in our Brunei Darussalam office to support delivery and assurance of the commercial activities.
Purpose / Role
- Reporting into the Commercial Manager you will ensure all aspects commercial activities are delivered and assured in line with Wood policies and procedures.
- Implementation and delivery of key policies and procedures including the Financial Management Framework and Tender Governance Procedures.
- Mentors and coaches direct reports in commercial processes and procedures, personnel development and training.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and promote a safe working environment and demonstrate correct HSE behaviours and leadership.
- Line manager responsibility for Commerical Assurance team
- Provide commercial and contractual advice to the project team as required.
- Governance and implementation of Financial Management Framework within assigned project / sub business unit.
- Review commercial and contractual risks and opportunities. Prepare, present and resolve any issues arising, in conjunction with line and project management.
- Provide input to the monthly Client report in relation to Commercial performance / progress.
- Ensure that any necessary contractual notices for Call Offs are served in accordance with the terms of the contract.
- Evaluation, placement and management of subcontracts in accordance with relevant Wood policies and procedures and in a manner which optimises Woods commercial position.
- Ensure accurate and timely response is provided to Client queries.
- Support to framework commercial manager to ensure accurate cost/value reporting
- Ensure end life forecasting for Call offs projects is undertaken in accordance with Wood policies and procedures and that the appropriate values are reflected in the management accounts.
- Ensure adequate and appropriate commercial resources are deployed onto call offs
- Ensure that revised contract rates and prices are built up and submitted in accordance with the terms of the contract.
- Support to estimating in team in production of subcontract enquiries for call off tenders
- Support in production of pre-tender contract documentation for call offs
- Liaising with the project accountant to ensure applications for payments are raised in accordance with contract conditions
Skills / Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Completion of an undergraduate degree in business administration, commerce, quantity surveying, or similar discipline.
- Professional qualifications desirable but not essential.
Knowledge, skills and experience
- Typically requires more than 7 years of pertinent experience in a commercial role and at least 2 years expirence in a similar Lead role
- Experience in negotiation, claims & dispute resolution
- Experience in drafting and interpretation of contractual documentation
- Competent in change management
