Overview / Responsibilities
Under close direction and guidance, supports delivery of engineering excellence in their assigned project(s) through coordination of single discipline engineering deliverables.
- This position is responsible for assisting the Project Management Team with the daily management, supervision, coordination, and successful completion of project(s) to meet time and cost objectives with respect to safety, contracting, scheduling, estimating, bidding, and contract administration functions.
- Alerts project engineering manager in the event of potential delays or change; supports implementation of approved changes.
Skills / Qualifications
Project deliverables
- Solicit and review bids from subcontractors and material suppliers for correct scope of work.
- Prepare bid packages for subcontracts and requisitions for review and approval by the Project Engineering Manager.
- Assist with preparing and completing the job start-up and closeout checklists.
- Prepare/submit all project submittals and maintain all project logs. Track and obtain properly executed documents to include contracts, insurance certificates, bonds and other documents as required to protect company interests.
- Provide support information to the detailed project construction progress schedule in coordination with Superintendent, Project Manager, subcontractors, and suppliers. Update the schedule on a timely basis or as required by the Project with guidance from the primary Project Manager.
- Prepare and monitor tracking logs for contract documents, submittals, shop drawings, requests for information (RFI''s), change orders, material deliveries and other quality control.
- Prepare change proposals, learn to negotiate change orders (FCN’s), execute change orders, issue change orders to subcontractors and others and prepare revisions to the budget, because of change orders and management revisions with direction of primary Project Manager and Project Engineering Manager.
- Maintain a complete and accurate set of contract documents.
- Participate in the preparation of the Project Status Report.
- Assist in management of project start-up process and project closeout process.
- Review and prepare proper submittals to gain technical skills necessary for promotion.
- Learn and coordinate with other project team members to assure adherence to Best Practices.
Typical qualifications required
- College Degree (not a must have)
- Field Experience (some)
- MS Office - Microsoft Word & Excel experience
Knowledge, skills, and experience:
- Entry level role, incumbents will typically have less than 2 years’ experience
- Elementary understanding of simple technical work scopes, key dates, and
- Basic knowledge of discipline engineering activities to coordinate the group
- Understands the concept of customer
- Commercially astute and aware of the importance of Change
- Able to coordinate activities of small, single discipline group in one office location
