Overview / Responsibilities
Wood is currently recruiting for Instrument Technicians with extensive operations and maintenance experience in the offshore oil and gas industry, preferably working on an FPSO.
Job Objective
We are supporting the development of an offshore field to support bringing gas to the market by 2022. The development of the fields shall be undertaken using a new-build, spread-moored gas FPSO unit to process gas and associated liquids from subsea wells. Dry pipeline spec gas will be produced and piped through a gas export line to an onshore facility while the recoverable liquids will be tandem offloaded into tankers from the FPSO. The final subsea infrastructure will include three development wells.
The project will support with the preparation, start up and subsequent operation and maintenance of the deepwater gas development.
The Instrumentl Technician will perform a role which is vital to the safe and effective delivery of offshore production/onshore processing of oil and gas or in ensuring that instrumentation and control systems and equipment used onshore and offshore is in a safe condition and meets safety and technical standards.
To maintain the process plant and associated equipment in a safe and efficient manner, in compliance with all statutory requirements.
Carry out planned preventative, remedial and breakdown maintenance in accordance with maintenance management system.
The positions are located in the Eastern Mediterranean region, on a 4 weeks on / 4 weeks off offshore working rotation.
Key Accountabilities
Operations
- Ensure comprehensive records and logs are maintained and effective handovers are carried out at shift and crew change
- Ensures the required supply of spare parts are available, prepares and requisitions items required
- Identify and propose ideas and solutions that will increase efficiency in cost or time without loss of integrity and present idea(s) to relevant management
- Support and improve team performance by sharing knowledge and best practices.
- Support the day-to-day running of the platform by safely performing Instrument maintenance tasks on platform utility and production equipment
- Accountable for maintaining a positive safety culture ensuring that all tasks are carried out within the law and company policies & procedures
- Participate in WG competence scheme including any multi skilled role in accordance with the relevant competence framework
- Adopt a flexible working attitude to provide support across all departments to ensure team success
- Create, maintain & enhance effective working relations and identify and minimise interpersonal conflict
- Maintain effective communication with all work colleagues at all levels
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and be able to apply it in the workplace.Ensure all work is conducted in full compliance with company HS&E policy, procedures and Safety Management System
- Be familiar with and adhere to the Wood Safety Cocoon, with specific focus on the Life Saving Rules.
- Comply with all relevant Wood HS&E policies and procedures where appropriate
- Actively participate and support all company Health, Safety & Environmental plans, initiatives and improvements
- Maintains good housekeeping conditions in workshop and work sites
- Carry out all activities in accordance with ISSOW including the following:
- Comprehensive and detailed Risk Assessments and Toolbox Talks
- Stop and re-asses any job where change is identified
- Report all accidents and incidents
- Carry out Emergency Response duties, as required or nominated, in accordance with client requirements
Skills / Qualifications
Qualification
Minimum Qualifications:
- Completed recognized Instrument Apprenticeship.
- SVQ3 – Instrument Maintenance and Systems.
- Current COMPEX certification.
- BOSIET / MEDICAL / MIST training
- Emergency Response Team
Job-Specific Skills:
- Experience as an Instrument Technician with large offshore fixed or floating projects involving multiple disciplines.
- Excellent communication and inter personal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels within the organisation.
- Systematic and analytical approach to management of change and associated procedures
- Ability to transform problems into a solutions with achievable outcome.
- Good understanding of process instrumentation
- Good knowledge of process control systems
- Good knowledge of fire and gas detection and ESD systems
- Good knowledge of HART Communications Protocol
- Good working knowledge of MOD BUS Communications
- Clear understanding of cause and effect logic diagrams
- Trained and competent in Emergency Response.
