Overview / Responsibilities
Wood is currently looking for a Lead Electrical Engineer who has extensive experience in the downstream refinery and chemical / petrochemical industry.
The Lead Electrical Engineer reports functionally to the Electrical Department Manager and operationally to one or more Project Managers. The main functions and responsibilities of the role are as follows:
- The Lead Electrical Engineer is responsible, on projects, for leading a team of discipline engineers / designers, in a multi-office environment, while still performing technical tasks within the projects
- Manage proper and timely execution of projects
- Responsible for cost, schedule, material quantity/budget control and management of changes
- Ensure all contractual electrical engineering documents are issued
- Ensure technical accuracy and quality of all work performed by the multi-office electrical project team
- Take personal responsibility for safety and a healthy environment on the projects
- Ensure effective communications with other engineering disciplines, project management and Client teams
- Contribute to people development (e.g. coach junior engineers)
- Develop scope of work, assumptions, clarifications and man-hour estimates in response to Requests for Proposals
- Add value plus/optimization ideas
- Study/develop single line diagrams and functional diagrams
- Accurately perform and/or check electrical design calculations for electrical loads, voltage profile, short-circuit and device coordination studies, etc., using standard electrical engineering software in accordance with applicable codes
- Execute/check equipment sizing calculations
- Prepare/check electrical job specifications and data sheets
- Prepare/check material requisitions for electrical equipment and technical bid evaluations as per relevant practices
- Review Vendor drawings and documentation as per relevant practices
Skills / Qualifications
- Master Degree in Electrical Engineering, with at least 15 years of engineering experience in the required industry
- Excellent leadership skills in Electrical Engineering with ability to handle complex multi-office projects
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Proven track record in handling large teams of electrical engineers structured and spread across different offices
- Conceptual, FEED and EPC / EPCm experiences
- Knowledge of international codes & standards e.g. IEC, NEC, ANSI, IEEE, GOST
- Proven knowledge of industry accepted electrical system analysis software such as ETAP and PTW SKM
- Ability to use electrical data base, such as Intergraph Smart Electrical and Aveva Electrical, is recommended
- Highly motivated, well organized, resourceful and proactive
- Italian mother tongue. Fluent written and spoken English
- Flexible to travel
