    Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood is currently recruiting for a Lead Piping Engineer with extensive experience in major upstream oil and gas projects. This role will be for 12 months on a contract basis and located in our Staines office with flexible hybrid working.

    Job Objective:

    Contributing to the delivery of Engineering excellence through:

    • Developing, reviewing/approving project philosophies/specifications in the EPC phase
    • Being accountable for the quality of EPC1 Piping deliverables and platform layouts
    • Providing ‘Piping Materials and Layout’ expertise/advice and solutions to a diversity of technical issues, as well as guidance to the team (internally)
    • Executing assigned scopes of work
    • Participating in EPC1 design reviews
    • Co-ordinating with other disciplines during all stages of design development
    • Participating in audits as required

    Piping Engineer & Layouts Lead is Responsible for:

    • Ensuring that SWP piping design & layouts for EPC1 meet the legacy project requirements and OMV standards (where appropriate), including the piping engineering (including piping components, valves, SP items, etc)

    Subject Matter Expertise:

    • Actively maintains own competence according to industry best practice and European Standards
    • Expert knowledge of piping layouts and piping materials engineering design practices as they relate to Detail Design, Construction, Commissioning, and plant Start-up
    • Expert knowledge of design deliverables associated with the discipline scope
    • Preparing and reporting workflow status / progress of self and Contractor
    • Reviewing (and where necessary, approving) SWP design changes (incl following Management of Change (MOC) processes);
    • Reviewing and approving SWP design during the EPC phase
    • Represent COMPANY to contractors, suppliers, consultants and service providers in the execution of the project, specifically with respect to the SWP
    • Contribute to the preparation, consistency of the ITT Packages and other project deliverables
    • Evaluation of Tender Packages

    General:

    • Provide planning and schedule data as required
    • Supporting the SWP Engineering Team and Delivery Manager
    • Management of third-party suppliers in the execution of engineering delivery

    Skills / Qualifications

    • Self-motivated, accustomed to being in positions of responsibility and accountability with good planning skills
    • BEng (Chartered Engineer), or recognized equivalent and practical experience in the discipline and role
    • Considerable previous O&G experience with relevant experience in a similar role
    • Self-motivated and able to clearly communicate with Contractors and third parties at all levels
    • Excellent communication skills, written, oral and presentation
