Overview / Responsibilities
Wood is recruiting for a Senior Pipeline Construction Engineer with extensive experience of pipeline operations with prior experience in the execution of major pipeline projects, ideally in the UK or in a similar environment. To be based in the Wood Home Office in Staines to support UK based project. The ideal candidate will have particularly knowledge working on FEED and EPC project phases
Extensive knowledge of onshore pipeline construction practices, welding qualifications and materials and the fabrication process of specialist steels and pipes together with a broad understanding of execution challenges as well as applicable design codes and standards
Willingness to undertake business trips and potential assignments (including the nearby Reading office) is a necessary part of construction execution and the role requires candidates to be supportive of this
Duties to include:
- Carry out construction feasibility and method studies whilst establishing, in conjunction with planning group realistic schedules for construction activities
- Identify construction deliverables to suit the project requirements and control and schedule them appropriately
- Ensure contract deliverables, documents and specifications are produced to meet the needs of the project schedule
- Be the point of contact and coordinator for all construction related issues working closely with project discipline engineers and home office construction and commissioning support
- Produce and develop plans and specifications, requisitions and bid summaries for all temporary facilities and construction equipment required within the scope of services
- Provide input into the EPC contractors ITB packages
- Review the project estimate to ensure the completeness of scope and correctness of construction input
- Lead constructability reviews and generate / follow up actions
- Review the project requirements, and the constructability checklist to identify critical execution issues
- Develop the overall schedule and the pipeline construction execution plan
- Review the model Safety Plan and Instructions to Contractors, incorporate project specific requirements as required
- Where applicable, liaise with engineering on construction engineering matters
- Oversee the organization and execution of all Pipeline Construction activities
- Proven technical track record in the construction of pipelines
- Input into Project Risk management reviews
- Oversee the development of construction plans for equipment installation and testing, pipeline installation and testing etc
Skills / Qualifications
- Extensive track record in Pipeline field activities within Oil & Gas or Petrochemical sector
- Good communication skills, both written and oral
- Degree in a relevant technical discipline is highly desirable, but not essential if you can demonstrate the right experience
- Level of technical and commercial experience
- Broad understanding of pipeline engineering
