    Job description

Are you looking for a meaningful, rewarding opportunity where your compassion can truly make a difference? Do you have a passion for supporting children and young adults in Maine’s foster care system?

Woodfords Family Services is growing and currently seeking Foster Family Support Workers to join our Therapeutic Foster Care team. We now have an opening in Lovell, ME!

    Position Summary

Woodfords’ Therapeutic Foster Care (TFC) Program provides treatment-level foster care for children and youth ages 3–21 with developmental and/or emotional disabilities who are unable to live with their biological families. Through the dedication of trained foster parents and a collaborative treatment team, children and teens receive the guidance and support they need to navigate emotional, social, behavioral, and learning challenges—with the ultimate goal of family reunification and lifelong skill development.

The Foster Family Support Worker plays a vital role in supporting the family unit by providing one-on-one support to foster children in both home and community settings. This position focuses on promoting independence in daily living skills, social interaction, communication, and positive behavior management.

This role requires the use of applied therapeutic interventions and the ability to build strong, supportive relationships with foster families and treatment team members. At least six months of related experience is strongly preferred.

    • Must be at least 18 years of age

    • High school diploma or GED required, with relevant life experience (post-secondary education or specialized training a plus)

    • Minimum of six months’ experience working with children and/or families; experience supporting children with special needs preferred

    • Valid State of Maine driver’s license and access to a reliable, insured vehicle

    • Knowledge of typical and atypical child development, developmental disabilities/delays, and mental health needs
