Junior Assembly Technician

Xradar provides services to the construction industry. Our services include Concrete Scanning, Cutting & Coring as well as a variety of non-destructive testing & advanced reporting. Our clients typically include General Building Contractors, Mechanical & Electrical Contractors as well as other trades aligned to the construction industry.

As Xradar’s new Junior Assembly Technician, you will be part of a small and dynamic team, building and maintaining novel geophysical equipment. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in the industry, receive training and start a career in the field. This role will exercise your ability to problem solve and overcome technical challenges. Your work will have direct and tangible results, and will be part of the foundation of an exciting new manufacturing operation. 

As our Manufacturing Technician, in your day-to-day responsibilities you will:

• Assemble low-volume production and R&D/prototype electronic equipment.
• Perform equipment wiring, cable/harness assembly, crimping, soldering, and connector installation.
• Assemble electronic and mechanical components into complete systems.
• Read and work from mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and BOMs.
• Perform functional testing, inspection, and basic troubleshooting.
• Support prototype modifications, rework, and design iterations with the R&D team.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot 3D printers.
• Package and prepare finished equipment for shipment.
• Source and purchase materials and hardware from local suppliers (metal, fasteners, mechanical components, etc.).
• Provide practical feedback and suggest improvements to designs and assembly methods.

Required Skills:

• Hands-on experience with electronic/electromechanical equipment assembly and wiring.
• Good mechanical aptitude and ability to use common hand and power tools.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and wiring documentation.
• Practical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently in an R&D environment with evolving designs and incomplete instructions.
• Ability to collaborate with engineers and actively propose solutions and improvements.
• Valid driver’s license.

Nice to Have:

• 3D printing experience.
• Welding / metal fabrication skills.
• CNC or basic machining experience.
• Knowledge of local suppliers and experience purchasing metal, fasteners, and fabrication services.
• Technical diploma or equivalent experience.
• Previous manufacturing or assembly experience.
• Previous related experience in troubleshooting and repairs.
