    Job description

Do you love helping children learn, grow, and discover the world around them? Join our team as an Assistant Teacher at our Gold-Rated Early Learning Center, where quality, creativity, and child-centered learning are at the heart of everything we do. In this role, you'll help create a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where children can thrive. Working alongside a supportive teaching team, you'll bring learning to life through hands-on activities, creative play, outdoor adventures, and meaningful interactions that foster children's social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development. Every day offers new opportunities to inspire curiosity, build confidence, and make a lasting impact on young lives.

We're looking for an energetic, dependable team player who enjoys being active, connecting with children and families, and contributing to a positive classroom culture. You'll help support daily classroom operations, maintain a welcoming and high-quality learning environment, and participate in ongoing professional development as part of our commitment to excellence. If you're passionate about early childhood education, eager to grow your skills, and excited to spend your days laughing, exploring, and helping children succeed, we'd love to have you join our Gold-Rated team and help us build strong kids, strong families, and strong communities.

As an Assistant Teacher, you'll help create a safe, nurturing, and fun learning environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive every day! Working alongside our teaching team, you will:

    • Support the daily operation of the classroom while meeting YMCA, state, and local licensing standards.
    • Maintain accurate classroom records and documentation.
    • Assist with implementing engaging, age-appropriate curriculum, activities, and routines that support each child's physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development.
    • Ensure appropriate staff-to-child ratios are maintained at all times.
    • Help manage and care for classroom materials, supplies, and resources.
    • Create inclusive learning experiences using diverse, multicultural, anti-bias, and non-sexist materials and activities.
    • Encourage active play and physical development through both indoor and outdoor experiences.
    • Help maintain a healthy, safe, and secure environment for all children.
    • Contribute to a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom.
    • Foster a classroom atmosphere that encourages curiosity, exploration, creativity, and positive play.
    • Collaborate with coworkers and maintain open communication with supervisors to support a strong team environment.
    • Use positive guidance techniques to help children develop self-confidence, self-control, and social-emotional skills.
    • Follow all YMCA Child Protection policies, child abuse prevention guidelines, and reporting procedures.
    • Build positive relationships with families through regular communication and participation in family events and meetings.
    • Demonstrate knowledge of YMCA values, child care policies, and program standards while helping maintain a high-quality early learning experience.
    • Serve as a role model for YMCA character values and contribute to our mission of building strong kids, strong families, and strong communities.
    • Take on additional responsibilities and opportunities as needed to support the success of the program.

    What We're Looking For

    • A caring, energetic team player who enjoys working with young children.
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
    • A commitment to creating an inclusive, welcoming environment for all children and families.
    • The ability to model positive behavior and support children's growth and development.
    • A passion for the YMCA mission and making a positive impact in the community.
