    Job description

    Our West Boise YMCA is seeking a Chronic Disease Prevention Program Instructor to join the team!  This position is responsible for creating a safe, friendly, and helpful atmosphere for members participating in a disease prevention program.

    Serving over 20,000 active youth, adult, and family members, the West Branch of the Treasure Valley Family YMCA helps members lead a healthier, happier life.  Facility amenities and features include six fitness studios, three racquetball courts, full-court basketball gym, youth activity center, climbing wall, 50-meter swimming pool, and training pool.

    Schedule:

    This is a part-time position at approximately 2 hours weekly.  Schedule requirement is Monday/Friday, 10:35am-11:15am.  Pay: $22.40 - $28.00 per hour.

    Responsibilities:

    • Develop intentional relationships and create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all participants.
    • Use the class platform to educate and inform participants about the Y Cause and other Y program offerings.
    • Conduct class in a quality, fun, and safe manner that results in increased attendance. Follow fitness trends and utilize prescribed formats when applicable.
    • Actively identify participants who need additional support, such as new members, health seekers, and participants with diverse abilities.
    • Monitor and ensure the safety of all participants.
    • Provide excellent delivery of disease prevention program to all members.
    • Engage members to deepen their relationships in the Y cause.
    • Monitor and ensure safety of participants, staff and volunteers in the disease prevention program.

    Qualifications:

    • Current Training Certification specific to class(es) being taught and either a Group Exercise or Personal Trainer certification as required of specific program.
    • Experience teaching Group Exercise or Personal Trainer (one Year minimum preferred).
    • Must be able to engage others in conversations and make all people feel welcome.
    • Ability to respond calmly and quickly to safety and emergency situations.
    • Must have good interpersonal and communications skills and be sensitive, adaptable, professional, and articulate when dealing with others.
    • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.

    REQUIRED LICENSURE AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS:

    • CPR/AED. Prerequisite of hire – 14-day compliance period.
    • HIPAA training required in the first 10 days of employment.
    • Cannot be on Medicare Exclusion List.
    • Specific Program Certifications - discuss with Hiring Manager for details.
