At a Glance:
The YMCA is hiring Swim Instructors (In Training) who can pass a basic swim skills assessment. No prior teaching experience is required. We provide training and certification support. In this role, you will shadow certified Swim Instructors, learn swim lesson programming and emergency procedures, and complete YMCA Swim Instructor Skills. The position offers a flexible schedule, free YMCA membership, opportunities for growth, and an increase in pay to $16.50 per hour upon successful completion of training requirements.
Pay:
The salary for this position is $13.92 hourly (in training rate). Once trained, team members will transition to the Swim Instructor role and rate of pay will increase to $16.50 hourly. We take into consideration an individual’s background and experience in determining salary; therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package for full-time includes a wide range of benefits (medical, dental, life, disability, and more) as well as generous paid time off and free membership. Part-time benefits will vary.
1. Job Summary:
This Swim Instructor In-training will shadow certified swim instructors while working to obtain required YMCA Swim Instructor Skills Verification up to but no longer than 90 days of hire date. Provide excellent customer service in a safe, enjoyable, and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and satisfaction in accordance with the YMCA policies and procedures.

This position reports to the Aquatics Supervisor/Aquatics Director who reports to the Senior Director of Aquatics/Senior Aquatics Manager. The incumbent interacts regularly with their supervisor, staff, volunteers, and participants.
