The Safety Leader works closely with line management to promote and maintain a safe work environment. This role requires the ability to effectively communicate safety expectations, enforce established procedures, and support operational needs while maintaining strong working relationships with site personnel. The ideal candidate will be able to identify critical facts, evaluate unusual situations, and provide guidance to both management and the workforce to ensure safe and productive operations.

Job Responsibilities
- Observe job site conditions to ensure safe work practices and compliance with safety requirements.
- Take immediate corrective action when unsafe conditions exist. Actions may include correcting the hazard, restricting access to affected areas, stopping work when necessary, and reporting conditions to the appropriate supervisor with recommended corrective measures.
- Observe workforce behaviors and activities to identify unsafe acts and intervene before incidents occur.
- Report unsafe conditions and behaviors to management both verbally and in writing.
- Assist the workforce in planning job tasks with safety considerations incorporated into all work activities.
- Assist supervisors with safety briefings and Safety Task Assignments (STAs), including reviewing and providing guidance to improve effectiveness.
- Respond to incidents and accidents, provide emergency aid when required, and verify that unsafe conditions have been corrected before work resumes.
- Assist in the issuance, inspection, and management of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Participate in incident and accident investigations.
- Administer first aid for minor injuries as trained and authorized.
- Assist with case management activities for employees injured on the job.
Qualification Highlights
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Valid Driver’s License required.
- Minimum of 3 years of Industrial Safety experience required.
- Previous maintenance and/or turnaround (TAR) experience preferred.
- Must be able to meet all physical requirements of the position.
- Must be able to work at heights exceeding 300 feet.
- Proficient in basic computer and documentation skills.
- Must have reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current or former Zachry/JVIC employee.
- Possession of one or more of the following certifications:
- OSHA 10
- OSHA 30
- Confined Space Competent Person
- Excavation Competent Person
- NCCER Field Safety
- NCCER Safety Technology
- BCSP Certifications (CHST, OHST, ASP, CSP, etc.)
Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, squatting, climbing, and lifting.
- Ability to communicate effectively in a construction environment.
- Ability to use hands and arms for signaling, grasping, pushing, pulling, and operating equipment.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to climb ladders, stairways, and work from elevated platforms and man lifts.
- May be required to work on open structures while utilizing appropriate fall protection equipment.
- Must possess good visual acuity and depth perception.
- Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, and rain.
- Required to wear PPE, including but not limited to hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, respirators, safety vests, and leather work boots.
Work Environment
- Outdoor industrial maintenance and construction environment.
- Exposure to varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, and rain.
- Moderate to high noise levels.
- Regular interaction with heavy equipment, cranes, forklifts, vehicles, tools, and construction personnel.
- Work may be performed at various elevations and in confined spaces.
