Job Purpose

Zedcor is looking to add an AR Supervisor to its growing accounting team in Calgary, AB. We are a small group of hard-working people who will do anything to make sure our customers are satisfied and that the business succeeds. Working closely with the accounting team, this role will include a mix of tasks that require attention to detail, a firm grasp of the bigger picture, and supervisory skills. This position will be based out of our Calgary office and will be perfect if you are detailed oriented, have a positive can-do attitude and are looking to grow your career. This role is responsible for tracking our rental equipment, processing customer payments, invoice processing, and following up on AR collections and other related tasks.

Summary of tasks

• Oversee the AR staff and processes; ensure processes are being followed, controls are in place, and formal procedures are well documented
• Daily review of the billing system to ensure all asset movements have been accounted for accurately each day.
• Investigate and resolve customer disputes regarding invoices or payment issues and work with other departments (e.g., sales or customer service) to resolve any billing discrepancies.
• Build relationships with operations to ensure open communication between functions
• Monitor the AR aging report and lead collections team for overdue accounts, escalating where appropriate
• Support month-end and quarter-end close activities including AR reconciliations and bad debt reserve reviews
• Supervise and review customer set-up processes; ensure proper documentation
• Review monthly invoices and cash applications
• Responsible for the review and distribution of the weekly customer aging report
• Perform other duties as requested

Qualifications and skills

• 5-7 years’ experience in operational accounting, accounts receivable and/or accounts payable
• 2-3 years’ experience in a supervisory role
• Bachelor’s degree or High School diploma/ certificate in accounting preferred.
• Must be engaged, hard-working and come to the office with a positive attitude; willing to assist with tasks outside of normal day-to-day tasks
• Willing to work in an entrepreneurial environment with evolving structure and processes
• Self-starter, driven, and motivated to work independently with minimal oversight
• Keen sense of curiosity, a sense of urgency and an ability to deal with change in a start-up company environment
• Strong aptitude for numbers, ability to analyze a large volume of data and present insights in a concise manner for senior management
• Excellent professional written and verbal communication skills
• Hands-on experience in operating spreadsheets and modern accounting software
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel

Experience:
