We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineering Project Manager for our Software Development organization in Hyderabad. This is a hands-on role combining software project delivery, the establishment of practical project management standards, coaching, and cross-regional collaboration with senior developers and stakeholders at our U.S. headquarters.
The successful candidate will be technically comfortable working with software engineers, proactive in identifying and mitigating risk, and motivated by the challenge of building project management capabilities for the India Software Development organization. This person will take ownership, continuously identify improvement opportunities, and turn practical ideas into sustained action without waiting for detailed direction.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Delivery & Risk Management
- Lead software development and release projects from planning through delivery, defining milestones, ownership, dependencies, and priorities.
- Work hands-on with developers and technical leads to track execution, remove blockers, and keep projects on plan.
- Identify schedule, technical, dependency, quality, and resource risks early; develop mitigation plans and escalate with recommended actions.
- Provide clear project visibility and coordinate effectively across Engineering, Product Management, QA, Services, and other stakeholders.
Project Management Practices, Agile & Process Improvement
- Establish, implement, and continuously improve practical project management standards across the India Software Development organization, including planning, milestone and dependency tracking, risk and issue management, reporting, and escalation.
- Take ownership of challenging organizational improvements, identify what needs to change, propose practical solutions, and lead implementation through adoption.
- Apply and coach Scrum practices, while using Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid approaches flexibly based on project needs.
- Drive process improvement and automation that improves project execution, visibility, and operational efficiency.
- Promote effective use and integration of Microsoft 365, JIRA, Git, Jenkins, and scripting languages for workflow and process automation where appropriate.
Technical Leadership, Coaching & Global Collaboration
- Participate confidently in technical project discussions and understand software development terminology, dependencies, testing, defects, and release processes.
- Mentor junior project managers and guide early-career software developers on ownership, prioritization, communication, risk awareness, and professional project practices.
- Collaborate with senior developers and stakeholders at U.S. headquarters through remote meetings while working onsite from the Hyderabad office.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in Engineering Project Management, Technical Project Management, Software Development Project Management, or a related discipline.
- Proven hands-on experience leading complex software development projects through the SDLC and release lifecycle.
- Strong practical knowledge of Scrum and Agile, plus experience using Waterfall or hybrid delivery approaches when appropriate.
- Experience establishing, implementing, and driving adoption of project management standards and practices in a software or technology environment.
- Technical understanding sufficient to communicate credibly with software developers and technical leads.
- Proven ability to identify risks early and drive practical mitigation and resolution.
- Experience coaching or mentoring project managers, developers, or other early-career professionals.
- Highly self-motivated and proactive, with a demonstrated ability to take ownership of ambiguous or challenging goals, identify opportunities for improvement, and independently turn ideas into practical, adopted solutions.
- Experience in process automation or demonstrated ability to design and implement automation solutions using Microsoft 365, JIRA, Git, Jenkins, and scripting languages.
- Exceptional communication, influence, and conflict-resolution skills. Proven ability to work through strong disagreement or initial resistance, persuade stakeholders using facts and practical options, facilitate constructive discussion, and build mutually workable solutions without relying on authority or confrontation.
- Ability and willingness to work onsite at the Hyderabad office as required by the role.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience establishing or scaling consistent project management practices within a Software Development or Engineering organization.
- Experience in globally distributed software development organizations.
- Technical or engineering background in software development, systems, or a related field.
